Big Prizes for Big Data

The City of Boston is excited that we can recognize the hard work of all of those who are participating in the HubHacks Data Challenge. Not only will there be opportunities to network and work with some of the key decision makers in the city and pickup some great swag from our partners, but thanks to our very generous sponsors, our top teams can also take home some great prizes at the conclusion of the challenge.   Participants who attend on Saturday are just getting started in the two-week data challenge. After you and your team meet, you will have several weeks to finalize and submit your projects. From submitted projects, teams will be selected by a panel of judges as finalists to present to the City and influential members of the tech community at an event at Faneuil Hall on April 4. In addition to those teams, one team can also be selected as the People's Choice finalist - so promote your work to your friends and networks so that they come and vote on your project at Challenge Post!   At the finals, a panel of judges will rate the presented projects on their visualization, creative uses of data sets, engagement with City constituents, emphasis on transparency, communication, and ease of use. Following those criteria, teams will be recognized with glory - such as seeing their visualizations implemented in the Mayor's dashboard or on display at one of the outdoor digital screens in the Seaport and near Fenway Park - and with some great prizes to take home. Prizes include:
  • HP Stream 8 Signature Tablets (courtesy of Microsoft)
  • Chrome Books (courtesy of HiQ and Socrata)
  • Tessel Hackathon Pack (courtesy of Accela)
  • GoPro Cameras (courtesy of Qlarion)
Good luck, hackers!
